History

Cathedral Capital was formed in 1997 to enable individual underwriting members of Lloyd’s to underwrite in an incorporated form.

In October 2000 Cathedral undertook a major transformation with a new and highly experienced executive management team headed by Elvin Patrick, formerly active underwriter of Syndicate 566, chairman of the Bankside group, managing director of Limit PLC and a past deputy chairman of Lloyd’s. Cathedral acquired a Lloyd’s managing agency, a FSA regulated advisory company, raised significant additional capital  and set about establishing and building Syndicate 2010.

In December 2006 Alchemy Investment Plan acquired the then holding company, and now owns some 56% of Cathedral, with the balance being largely owned by the Cathedral management and staff.

In July 2007 Cathedral commenced Syndicate 3010 which focuses on marine cargo insurance.
