Welcome to Cathedral
Cathedral Capital was formed in 1997 to enable individual underwriting members of Lloyd’s to underwrite in an incorporated form through a limited liability vehicle.
In October 2000, Cathedral undertook a major transformation. As part of the transformation and reorganisation, Cathedral acquired a Lloyd’s managing agency; a Financial Services Authority regulated advisory company, raised significant additional capital and set about establishing and building Syndicate 2010.
This radical overhaul to the original company was led by a new and highly experienced executive management team, headed by Elvin Patrick (formerly Active Underwriter of Syndicate 566, Chairman of the Bankside group, Managing Director of Limit PLC and a past Deputy Chairman of Lloyd’s).
In December 2006 Alchemy Investment Plan acquired the then holding company, and now owns some 63% of Cathedral, with the balance being largely owned by Cathedral management and staff. Cathedral Capital Limited (being the holding company of the group since December 2006) was formed to achieve the acquisition of the former group holding company by Alchemy Investment Plan, and the Cathedral management. It is now charged with the overall governance and strategic direction of the Cathedral Group.
